Avonne D. Rosario is a family nurse practitioner working at Samuel Rodgers Health Center in Kansas City, MO. She is also a volunteer nurse practitioner for Care Beyond the Boulevard’s Street medicine unit which provides mobile medicine across the Kansas City metropolitan area. In addition to her work as a clinician, she also serves as Samuel Rodgers NP residency program coordinator, regular preceptor and didactic presenter. Healthcare is her second career. Prior to healthcare, her career was law enforcement. She served 14 years as an officer in the US Air Force and was an operations officer in various large military police units.  She was honorably discharged as a Major. Her educational path is as follows: BA in Criminal Justice in from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2001), Master of Business Administration from St. Leo University, FL (2005), Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas (2014) and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Mary-Harden Baylor (2019). She is also a graduate of the Kansas City Veterans Administration’s ’19-’20 cohort.  

Avonne had a deep passion for educating and mentoring the next generation of nurse practitioners, creating community connections and addressing social determinants of health and health inequity amongst the population she serves.
