Developing the Supervisory Relationship (February 12, 2025)

Program Information

This is the 3rd of an 8-part series on supervising behavioral health trainees. This series provides supervisors with three years or less experience an opportunity to learn about factors regarding supervising behavioral health trainees. This includes providing feedback, telesupervision, multicultural and ethical considerations and ending the supervisory relationship. 

This activity meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month (January - April) from 12:30 - 2 PM ET / 9:30 AM PT.

Target Audience

This activity is appropriate for behavioral health providers who can supervise (social workers, psychologists, psychiatrist who conduct therapy, etc.)

  • Supervisors of behavioral health trainees with three years or less experience
  • Someone looking to become a supervisor of a behavioral health trainee

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Develop a better understanding of psychodynamic supervision including the three main components.
  • How to utilize parallel process as "grist for the mill" in the clinical space. 
  • Discuss the intersectionality of identities and how they influence the development of the supervisory relationship.
  • Learn how to effectively explore rupture and repair within the supervisory relationship.
