Protecting Our Hearts and Minds: Community-Based Approaches to Promoting Brain Health and Preventing Dementia (June 13, 2025)
Program Information
Over 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and this number is expected to double by 2060. Contrary to popular belief, Alzheimer’s disease isn’t just a disease of old age; the biological changes that occur in the disease typically start decades before memory problems. Therefore, the early detection of cognitive decline is a crucial step for accessing effective interventions. This presentation will highlight a community-based memory screening initiative to detect early signs of cognitive impairment. It will also explore the connections between heart health, brain health, mental health, and the risk of developing dementia in later life.
