Carolyn Janis, LCSW, RPT, is a practitioner within the SBHC in Portland and East Haven, CT.   Ms. Janis attended Providence College as a undergrad liberal arts student who received her degree in Social Work.   While there, she completed a thesis of a comparative study between the experiences of outlier groups to the experiences of Indigenous Peoples.  She attended Simmons College (now University) with practices at the Sommerville Health Center as her primary internship site.  

Ms. Janis established her practices in the Portland Schools in 2017, following a career at the Institute of Living in Hartford for 18 years.   Currently, she serves as the Clinical Director for Behavioral Health Services at the School Based sites of Community Health Center.  Ms. Janis became a Registered Play Therapist in 2020.
