Areti Zikopoulos, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist at the Middletown and Clinton sites. Dr. Zikopoulos received her undergraduate degrees from Drew University in New Jersey in both psychology and sociology. She obtained her doctorate degree from William James College in Newton, MA. She completed her APA internship at Community Services Institute, a community mental health center in Springfield, MA. She also completed her postdoctoral residency at the Community Health Center (CHC), before transitioning to a full time staff member at the Middletown and Clinton offices. Dr. Zikopoulos has experience in working with individuals across the lifespan and has particular clinical interest and experience in trauma-focused work with children and adults, recently completing training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Dr. Zikopoulos co-published research in graduate school focusing on posttraumatic growth following adverse experiences, and her dissertation focused on PTG in mental health professionals who work closely with trauma. Through this research, she has developed a keen interest in working with supervisees and colleagues to manage the effects of working with trauma daily.
