Dr. Ann Marie Hart is a professor and the DNP program director at the University of Wyoming’s Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, where she has been teaching NP students since 2003. Her scholarship focuses on improving health through better NP education and postgraduate NP training, and she has conducted several studies looking new NPs’ preparedness for practice and interest in postgraduate education, as well as their experiences in postgraduate NP residency programs. Ann Marie has been a member of Consortium for Advanced Practice Providers since 2014 and is currently the chair of its accreditation commission. In addition, Ann Marie has over 25 years of adult primary care practice experience and currently practices at the Downtown Clinic, a progressive, free clinic for uninsured, low-income adults in Laramie, WY. 

Ann Marie received her BSN from Virginia Commonwealth University, her MSN from the University of Wyoming, and her PhD in Nursing from the University of Colorado’s College of Nursing and is also a fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Ann Marie is originally from southern West Virginia, where she learned to love rural communities and the nurse leaders who serve them. She and her husband moved to Wyoming in 1994 to attend graduate school. Although they only planned to stay in Wyoming for 2 years, they fell in love with the Rocky Mountains and the frontier nature of Wyoming and decided to call Laramie “home”, where with their two sons, they enjoy the perks of a small university town and the best of the great outdoors.
