Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
- Apply the FCMSG framework to systematically assess function, cognition, medications, geriatric syndromes, and goals of care in complex older adults.
- Differentiate atypical disease presentations, medication-related symptoms, and geriatric syndromes using clinical findings and patient history.
- Identify high-risk or potentially inappropriate medications and develop an individualized deprescribing plan using the STOP framework. Formulate prioritized, goal-concordant care plans that promote patient safety, function, and quality of life.
- Document geriatric clinical reasoning, risk–benefit decisions, and interdisciplinary care recommendations in a clear and defensible manner.
