Kim Kim, MSN RN CDCES
Kim Kim, MSN, RN, CDCES is a bilingual Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist at Community Health Center, Inc. She works collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide self-management education and glycemic control strategies for people living with diabetes. Kim is a member of the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (ADCES) and the Connecticut Coordinating Body. She is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), serving on the Board of Directors and as the chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Locally, Kim is a member of NAHN Hartford Chapter and serves as a mentor to students and early career nurses. She served as the NAHN Hartford Chapter President (2019-2021), leading the chapter in vaccine equity, mental health and anti-racism initiatives. In 2021, she was recognized with the NAHN Ambassador Award for her efforts in growing the Hartford Chapter membership. Kim was appointed to the National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing for the 2023-2024 term and engages in anti-racism work in nursing. She was featured in the documentary "Caring Against the Grain" and the Reckoning with Racism in Nursing project. Kim is passionate about dismantling structures that have yielded health disparities and has a special interest in the effects of diabetes distress in persons living with diabetes, specifically Latinx adults. She is currently a student in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Saint Joseph.
