Kathi Borden, PhD
Dr. Borden received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and completed her APA accredited internship at Ravenswood Medical Center in Chicago. She is Professor of Clinical Psychology at Antioch University New England, and supervises in Antioch’s Psychological Services Center. She is also a member of the NH Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team.
Dr. Borden is completing a six-year term as Editor of the APA journal Professional Psychology: Research and Practice, and will soon assume a role Associate Editor. She has edited special sections on LGBTQ+ parenting, transgender issues, and contemporary assessment as Associate Editor. As Editor, she coedited a special issue on substance use disorders and addictions, and oversaw the reinvention of a special feature on thorny ethical issues. Dr. Borden also serves as a Consulting Editor for the APA journal Training and Education in Professional Psychology.
Dr. Borden’s publications and presentations include work on mentoring; families of gender nonconforming children; women’s development; professional psychology education and training including competencies and the assessment of competence; child and parenting issues; internship issues; and program accreditation.
Dr. Borden is a past president of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology and has chaired or served on several national conference steering committees. She is a site visit chair for the American Psychological Association, and has consulted with programs across the country on program development, curriculum, leadership, program policies, and accreditation. Pursuing her interest in public policy and legislative advocacy, she was a founding Federal Education Advocacy Coordinator for APA. She received the American Psychological Association Board of Educational Affairs’ Education Advocacy Award in 2007, and an NCSPP special presidential recognition for her contributions to Professional Psychology Education and Training in 2020.
