Dr. Tichianaa Armah is the Chief Psychiatry Officer and Vice President of Behavioral Health at the Community Health Center Inc., which provides comprehensive integrated care for historically under resourced communities. She received her Medical Degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and went on to Yale for her residency in Psychiatry. There, Dr. Armah was the American Psychiatric Association 2011 Yale Minority Fellow and an early organizer of the Department's Social Justice and Health Equity curriculum. She remains an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale School of Medicine, actively involved in the advocacy tract. Driven to increase access to quality mental health care for vulnerable populations she has been active in educating Physicians & Nurse Practitioners within an integrated care setting. Dr. Armah approaches local communities and patients with her fundamental value of the mind, body, and spirit connection for overall well-being and can frequently be found running local groups in partnership with Nutritionists, or at universities talking about treating mental illness with cultural humility or more recently on zoom talking about the mental health and race. When not delivering care or teaching she can be found speaking to students at schools, and children at churches, educating about not only mental health but also encouraging underrepresented minorities to enter into the health and mental health care fields.

In 2019, Dr. Armah was recognized by the Connecticut Psychiatric Society with the Roger Coleman Memorial Service Award for her exemplary devotion to patients and commitment to quality care. To decrease the risks associated with COVID-19 for citizens throughout the state, she redoubled her promotion of telehealth through news outlets and advocacy with legislators In 2020 and 2021. Dr. Armah starred in Public Service announcements to encourage vaccinations and masking. These won Telly Awards including two gold awards conferred upon only 3% of awardees, and two silver, the world's largest honor for video and television content.  She was named 2022 Champion for Recovery by the Laurel House. Near the same time she was named one of the Distinguished 400 an accolade intended to recognize members of our society who've served their community through non-profit, philanthropy, by the 400 Years of African American History Commission of the U. S. Government. Notable recipients include Stacey Abrams and Henry Louis Gates. She is now the Co- Principle investigator on the 2 million dollar Optimizing Virtual Care grant received by CHC, Inc. aimed at increasing virtual care access and quality and President-Elect of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society.  Her most important roles however, are proud mother, and grateful wife.
