03/23/2023 - 12:00pm to 1:30pmThere is a major movement underway in healthcare nationally to develop ways to improve the results of care and make care safer for patients and families. These issues have been the subject of many reports by the Institute of Medicine and are being discussed in all health professional disciplines (nursing, medicine, behavioral health, pharmacy, health administration, and others). In addition to the agreement that we must improve care, there is broad support for enhancing the learning of health professionals to include topics and experiences that will prepare health professionals to lead the changes that will result in a better system. In addition, feedback from former residents, postdocs, and fellows suggested they appreciated the opportunity to engage in quality improvement during their training.

03/23/2023 - 2:00pm to 5:00pmEach week the Postgraduate NP Residency Program reserves approximately 3 hours to provide new primary care nurse practitioners to expand their knowledge, skills, and strategies for caring for, treating, and managing the complex patient populations encountered in the FQHC and other safety net settings. Nurse Practitioner specialties covered include Family, Adult-Gerontology, Pediatric, and Psychiatric Mental Health. The series aims to build upon the knowledge and skills that learners obtained through their academic programs and take topics to the next level while allowing learners to directly apply the gained knowledge and skills in their practice in real time. The overall didactic series is designed to increase the confidence and competence of each individual learner in the knowledge and skills associated with high burden, high frequency, and high complexity topics most commonly encountered in primary care.
