Clinical Workflows and AI: Practical Adoption in Health Centers
Program Information
This six-session Community of Practice offers HRSA-supported health center leaders a practical, evidence-informed approach to adopting AI in real-world clinical settings. Through expert instruction, case studies, peer exchange, and action planning, participants will examine AI applications for documentation, cancer screening identification and tracking, patient outreach and follow-up, organizational knowledge management, and clinical operations. The series emphasizes responsible adoption, including patient consent, privacy, data quality, governance, human oversight, and evaluation of technology performance. Participants will identify realistic opportunities to integrate AI-supported approaches into existing workflows while maintaining patient trust, safety, and appropriate clinical decision ownership.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
- Distinguish AI applications deployable in health centers today from those that are early-stage or overstated.
- Evaluate AI tools using evidence, data requirements, workflow fit, and potential failure modes.
- Apply appropriate consent and patient-information protection practices to AI-supported clinical documentation and workflows
- Use AI-supported approaches to identify, engage, and follow up with patients due for cancer screening.
- Identify workflow dependencies where AI-supported knowledge-access tools may strengthen operational resilience while preserving clinical judgment.
- Define decision ownership, human oversight, escalation criteria, and governance practices for responsible AI adoption.

- Select the sessions you attended. Within each session, select the Continue tab to navigate to information on how to complete the session evaluation and claim your credits.
