
Weitzman ECHO Substance Use Health 2026 (September 15, 2026)
Program Information
This activity meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 1-2 pm ET.
This program provides front-line primary care clinicians and team members with the support and expert advice they need to gain confidence in treating substance use disorders with an integrated care approach. Topics covered in the series include medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder, polysubstance use, xylazine and other adulterants, toxicology screening and interpretation, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and care coordination. In addition to didactic presentations on these high-value topics, each session also offers participants the opportunity to present real life patient cases and receive recommendations from the expert faculty and their peers in the program. Together, participants and the faculty build a community of practice that strengthens the capacity of primary care medical and behavioral health providers to provide care for patients with substance use disorders.

- Behavioral health providers (Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Therapists)
- Nurses
- Pharmacists
- Other members of the care team (Peer Recovery Supporters, Care Coordinators)
Learning Objectives
Related to patents with substance use disorders, by the end of this series, participants will be able to:
- Integrate medication-assisted treatment and behavioral health interventions to develop comprehensive care strategies for patients with substance use disorders.
- Analyze toxicology screening results to inform and tailor individualized treatment plans.
- Apply harm reduction strategies and motivational interviewing techniques to effectively engage and support patients in their recovery.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and enhance patient outcomes, with a focus on underserved communities.
