
Creating LGBTQIA2S+ Equitable and Affirming Spaces (February 20, 2025)
Program Information
In this affirming spaces foundational training, we discuss terminology and basic gender and sexuality concepts to create a shared base of knowledge before diving into interactive and in depth discussions around the gender binary, gender identity, and gender expression. We will then explore ways to create affirming spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ folks including identity navigation, pronoun/name best practices, and interrupting bias incidents.

Target Audience
This activity is appropriate for the following audiences:
- Primary care providers (MD, DO, NP, PA)
- Behavioral health providers
- Dentists
- Registered Dieticians
- Other members of the care team
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
- Implement at least one strategy in their clinic or classroom that uplifts the rights of queer students and lays the groundwork for creating a safe environment.
