Every Screen Counts: A Practical Three-Part Webinar Series to Improve Colorectal Cancer Screening
Program Information
Colorectal cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related death, yet screening and timely follow-up continue to lag in rural and underserved communities. This practical three-part webinar series is designed to support health centers and rural clinics in closing these gaps through evidence-based strategies, community-informed approaches, and effective use of data. Across three sessions, participants will explore how to implement proven colorectal cancer screening interventions in resource-limited settings, gain a deeper understanding of barriers that influence screening behaviors in rural populations, and learn how to translate state and clinic-level data into actionable workflows that drive improvement.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
- Identify evidence-based colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and follow-up interventions proven to improve screening rates and diagnostic completion in rural and FQHC settings, including strategies from the ACS NCCRT Rural Communities Toolkit.
- Analyze rural-specific barriers and perspectives—including stigma, fear, trust, communication challenges, and access constraints—and compare patient and provider drivers of CRC screening engagement to inform effective outreach and messaging.
- Develop scalable, population health–focused implementation strategies that allow health centers to start with manageable CRC interventions and expand over time using data tools such as Azara DRVS to identify care gaps
- Assess CRC screening and follow-up trends in North Dakota and South Dakota and identify state-level programs, resources, and collaborative opportunities to strengthen health center–state alignment, patient navigation, and quality improvement efforts.
