Program Information
This series prepares dental teams to provide enhanced care for patients with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD). It emphasizes the need for specialized training and collaboration with other care teams to ensure comprehensive and effective treatment for IDD patients.
This activity meets from 12-1pm CT on the following dates

Target Audience
This activity is appropriate for dental teams, including nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates/assistants, social workers, behavioral health professionals, and other team members such as operations staff and community health workers (CHWs).
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
- Identify and Address Barriers to Oral Healthcare for Individuals with I/DD
- Recognize the impact of sensory sensitivities and communication difficulties on dental treatment and learn strategies to create a supportive and accommodating environment.
- Learn how to integrate new technologies into personalized care plans that are tailored to the needs of individuals with I/DD.
- Understand how mobile health applications and assistive technology can empower individuals with I/DD to manage their oral health more independently, enhancing their engagement and overall health outcomes.
