Program Information

The Fall 2022 Step Up Together Drills and Skills Cycle focuses on shoulder dystocia and neonatal resuscitation, initiating emergency newborn transport from community birth settings (birth center, home) to a hospital for higher level care, and designing and managing processes to learn from sentinel or unusual events.

The 8-week cycle is designed for clinical leaders in community birth settings, including birth centers, home birth teams, and community or critical access hospital-based maternity units. It includes 8 live zoom sessions, with access to online tools and community between sessions. Live sessions are recorded and available to learners who are not able to attend on Zoom.

Throughout the cycle, participants will prepare for, conduct, document, and debrief a team drill on the clinical topic (Shoulder Dystocia and Neonatal Transport) while engaging in learning and online discussion about the programmatic focus (Sentinel and Unusual Event Processes for Community Birth) and other topics of interest.
