Target Audience

Learning Objectives

  1. Differentiate the levels of education, experience, and scope of practice for APRN students and APRN postgraduate trainees.
  2. Use the deliberate practice framework to support learners’ acquisition of expertise.
  3. Construct a set of expectations to guide learners to arrive prepared to make the most of their clinical experience.
  4. Recognize the developmental stages of the Reporter-Interpreter-Manager-Educator.
  5. Give formative and meaningful feedback on clinical skills at the point of care.
  6. Describe two new time-saving strategies they plan to implement with learners.
  7. Demonstrate the five steps of the One Minute Preceptor method.
  8. Teach a learner how to use the SNAPPS method to present a case.
  9. Describe the difference between a preceptor and a program’s responsibility to remediate struggling learners.
  10. Apply a structured approach to diagnosing a struggling learner’s primary learning issue.
