Elizabeth Bird, MD
Dr. Bird was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and currently lives in CT with her husband, 3 dogs and a rotating cast of 3 grown children. She decided to pursue a career in medicine after a summer spent working as a courier for the Frontier Nursing Service in rural Kentucky the summer after graduating from college. She completed medical school at Yale University and then pediatric residency at the University of Michigan. She almost became a neonatologist, but had surprise twins of her own, shortly (17 months) after she had her first child. With 3 kids under the age of 2, she decided to forgo that path and enjoyed 10 years of working as a hospitalist and urgent care pediatrician at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. During that time, she served as Associate Program Director of the Pediatric residency at Brown and also worked as the patient safety officer for the hospital. She is married to an ER doc whose career brought them to CT in 2014, where Dr. Bird discovered a love of primary care pediatrics, especially working with our primarily underserved Latino population in Hartford. She currently serves as onsite medical director of CHC's Hartford site.
