Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences
Program Information
This webinar provides school-based providers with a comprehensive understanding of ACEs, their effects on neurobiology, and how past and present traumas impact students' well-being in school. Participants will learn to identify and respond to trauma with empathy, fostering resilient, self-healing school communities.
This activity will be repeated four times between October 2024 and June 2025. Please claim credits only for the session you attended.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
- Recognize the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on brain development and behavior.
- Explain the relationship between trauma, neurobiology, and epigenetics in children’s learning and emotional regulation.
- Identify signs of trauma in students and their effect on well-being and school performance.
- Apply trauma-informed strategies to support resilience and foster a safe, compassionate school environment.
- Develop skills to respond to trauma with empathy and contribute to creating self-healing school communities.
